In the second installment of the Las Vegas Modern renovation series, we’re taking a closer look at the Primary Suite and four-and-a-half bathroom transformation. You can view the first phase of the project here.
While every space in the home received thoughtful updates, the primary suite became the focal point of the renovation. Designed as a luxurious retreat, the new suite establishes the aesthetic look that carries throughout the home’s remaining bathrooms. Warm wood tones, rich espresso cabinetry, matte black plumbing fixtures, and layered fluted textures create a cohesive palette that feels both modern and inviting. Champagne bronze accents were selectively incorporated in the primary bath to connect visually with the kitchen and great room while allowing the black fixtures to remain the dominant finish throughout the bathrooms.
The homeowners were initially drawn to the property for its single-level, 4,000-square-foot floor plan. With four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and generous entertaining spaces, the home is ideally suited for hosting family and guests. Because one guest en suite had been recently renovated by the previous owner, we strategically allocated the budget toward spaces that would make the greatest daily impact. The primary suite received a complete transformation, while two secondary bathrooms underwent full renovations and the powder room received a targeted cosmetic refresh.

Primary Bedroom + En Suite Bathroom
With newly installed black windows and updated flooring already setting the stage for a more contemporary aesthetic, the primary bedroom required a stronger visual focal point. The existing fireplace felt oversized and awkwardly proportioned, so we reconfigured the entire feature wall.
The new design stacks a linear fireplace beneath the television and introduces a floor-to-ceiling wood slat installation that creates visual height and texture. Integrated felt backing adds acoustic benefits while reinforcing the layered, modern aesthetic found throughout the home.
Primary Bathroom
The Primary Bathroom underwent the most dramatic transformation. The original layout felt dark and compartmentalized, with a small, enclosed shower and an oversized drop-in tub. By opening up the floor plan and simplifying the material palette, the space now feels open, cohesive, and spa-like.
Custom wood paneling wraps the vanity walls and soffits, creating structured continuity and warmth. Oversized fluted wood-look porcelain tile defines the shower feature wall, while large-format marble-look porcelain slabs envelop the tub and shower side walls. The same porcelain slab continues beneath the tub, while a coordinating mosaic floor tile within the shower provides slip resistance without disrupting the clean visual flow.
The curbless shower design enhances accessibility while reinforcing the minimalist aesthetic that defines the renovation. The new smart bidet toilet is tucked away, enhancing privacy and allowing the tub and shower feature to be the star of the room.
Custom Built-In Features
Rather than working against the existing soffits and recessed architectural details, we used them as a framework for the cabinetry design. Full-height paneling wraps walls and soffits to create a more intentional structure while visually framing the espresso vanities.
Tall linen cabinets at each vanity significantly increase storage capacity and provide a custom furniture-like appearance. To further modernize the space, all rounded drywall corners throughout the renovation were replaced with clean square edges, resulting in sharper sight lines and a more contemporary finish.
Plumbing Fixtures + Hardware
A consistent fixture package was selected throughout the home to strengthen continuity between spaces. Contemporary faucets with clean lines and streamlined silhouettes complement the modern design without feeling overly trendy.
Matte black plumbing fixtures were specified throughout most bathrooms, creating a refined contrast against the warm wood tones and lighter surfaces.
Primary Walk In Closet
The primary closet was transformed from a builder-grade storage space into a highly functional dressing room.
Custom wood-look cabinetry replaced wire shelving, creating a tailored solution that coordinates with the surrounding bathroom design palette. An island was added to provide additional storage and a convenient drop zone, while motion-activated toe-kick lighting illuminates the perimeter of the space and enhances the overall sense of luxury.

Lighting Features
Layered lighting plays an important supporting role throughout the renovation.
Because the existing recessed ceiling lighting was already well-positioned above the vanities, those fixtures were retained. To enhance both ambiance and functionality, motion-activated toe-kick lighting was added beneath bathroom cabinetry, mirroring details found in the kitchen. The result is subtle illumination that improves nighttime navigation while adding a custom, luxury-inspired touch.
Bed 2 En Suite Bath
As the largest guest bathroom in the home, this en suite echoes many of the design elements introduced in the primary bath.
A textured wood-look feature tile anchors the shower, while ivory limestone-look porcelain tile creates a warm and timeless backdrop. Motion-sensor toe-kick lighting adds both functionality and a subtle hospitality-inspired detail that guests can appreciate during nighttime use.
Bed 3 (Office) En Suite
The Bedroom 3/Office bathroom had been recently renovated by the previous homeowner, making it a prime candidate for a selective update rather than a complete remodel.
Because the existing floor and shower finishes were neutral and in excellent condition, we retained those elements and focused on updating the vanity area to align with the design aesthetic established throughout the home. In this previously renovated guest en suite, chrome fixtures were maintained to preserve budget and avoid unnecessary demolition. A matching chrome faucet in the same line as the other bathroom fixtures was selected for a cohesive appearance that blends seamlessly with the existing shower hardware.
Bed 4 En Suite
As the smallest full bathroom in the home, this space required a more restrained approach.
Wood-look textured tile was incorporated within the shower niche, while a linear mosaic shower floor introduces subtle movement and dimension. The vanity was updated to coordinate with the remaining bathrooms, ensuring continuity throughout the home despite the room’s smaller footprint.
Powder Bath
Although the powder room received only modest updates, the changes had a significant impact.
A new green feature tile was installed within the vanity niche, accompanied by a suspended mirror and updated faucet. These targeted improvements introduce texture and personality while maintaining visual consistency with the rest of the renovation.
Pet-Friendly Design Considerations
Durability was an important consideration throughout the project.
The homeowners selected a waterproof wood-look luxury vinyl plank flooring that runs continuously throughout the main living spaces, bedrooms, and bathrooms. In addition to providing a seamless visual flow, the flooring is highly resistant to wear, waterproof, and easy to maintain. Its softer surface is also more comfortable for pets and offers better traction than traditional tile flooring.
Creating Continuity Throughout the Home
One of the project’s primary goals was establishing a cohesive contemporary design across all spaces.
New black windows and doors create a striking visual backdrop, while matte black plumbing fixtures unify four of the home’s bathrooms. In the primary suite, light oak paneling and cabinetry echo the kitchen’s warm wood finishes, allowing espresso-toned vanities to become focal points in much the same way the kitchen island and range wall anchor the main living area.
The continuous luxury vinyl plank flooring further strengthens the connection between rooms, while the elimination of rounded drywall corners modernizes the home’s overall character. Together, these decisions create a refined environment that feels contemporary, warm, and intentionally designed.
A Cohesive Vision, Thoughtfully Executed
This phase of the Las Vegas Modern renovation demonstrates how thoughtful design decisions can completely transform the way a home looks, functions, and feels. By focusing on clean architectural lines, layered textures, warm wood finishes, and a cohesive material palette, we created a collection of bathrooms that feel connected while still giving each space its own identity. From the spa-inspired primary suite to the updated guest bathrooms and walk-in closet, every renovation choice was guided by a balance of beauty, functionality, and everyday livability. The result is a modern, welcoming home that supports the homeowners’ lifestyle today while providing the timeless foundation needed for years of entertaining, relaxing, and hosting family and friends.
