One of my favorite weekend getaways is to go to Vancouver, BC. From Kirkland, it’s usually only about a 2.5 hour drive, which makes it even faster than going to Portland if the border wait time is low. I love how close Vancouver is, yet it has a completely different vibe than Seattle. It has a lot more European influence in the types of food and shops available.
One of my favorite brunch spots that I will hit up at least one if not twice while I’m in town is Nero. They have two locations that serve their fluffy and delectable Belgium-style waffles. They have something for everyone ranging from sweet to savory. They even have mini-waffles you can get a box to go!
On our second trip there, the wait was super long so we grabbed two to go and walked to a park by the water to enjoy. Everyone that I have recommended they check it out has come away happy, so be sure to add it to your next itinerary.
