One of my favorite weekend getaways is to go to Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s a short flight from Seattle and the Vegas airport is easy to get in and out of. As an interior designer, I love visiting Las Vegas to see the extraordinary spaces that have been extravagantly thought out and executed. There is no shortage of inspiring spaces on and off the strip and this Thai restaurant that my friends introduced me to on a recent trip was stunning.

Lotus of Siam is a local favorite in Las Vegas and they have expanded to two locations beyond their original. The Lotus of Siam at Red Rock in Summerlin is the location I visited and was blown away by the beautiful Thai decor that immerses you immediately upon arrival. The beautiful lantern lights, the hanging plants, the bamboo, the baskets, all create a gorgeous backdrop that prepares you for their traditional Thai culinary experience.

I love the tufted upholstered round booths with the arc lamps. The feature wall with colorful canisters adds a lot of drama to the dining room. The lit bottle storage behind the bar has a large open weave back so it is visible from the dining area and provides a lot of atmospheric lighting. While the location is incredibly breathtaking, the food is also exceptional. Lotus of Siam is well known in the culinary community and has many world-renowned accolades for their traditional family recipes. I tried the Khao Soi, some appetizers and their lychee cocktail. The pineapple upside down cake was delicious. Everything was timed and plated beautifully by excellent wait staff. The flavors were perfectly balanced. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend checking it out.
