Plan a Galentine’s Day Tea Party

Ever since I had Tea at the Empress in Victoria, BC, I’ve been hooked on afternoon tea. I’ve visited several tea houses since and have picked up some easy to replicate ideas for a successful tea party along the way. I love that it’s an excuse for a social gathering and makes your guests feel pampered. I love hosting my girl friends for a tea party.

Supplies You’ll Need:

  • A cute teacup set – I have a vintage set from my grandmother and a set that I got from Anthropologie years ago but you could easily thrift these for an eclectic set that is affordable. Here is an inexpensive set from Amazon
  • Individual Tea Pots – You could get one or two larger ones to share if you don’t plan on hosting often but I like having individual pots for guests so they can choose their own tea
  • Teapot Warmers with tea light candles – My favorite tea experiences had these, and keeping the tea piping hot with teapot warmers and candles really elevates the experience
  • Tiered Stand – I have both a 3-tier and 4-tier stand depending on how many guests I am hosting
  • Mini Bowls for the used tea – These gold sauce bowls work great
  • Tea Timer – brew the perfect cup with a couple tea timers for the group
  • Mini Pitchers for Milk or Cream
  • Glass Pitcher for infused Water – I got mine at Crate & Barrel
  • Mini Tongs for serving – I got these gold tongs
  • Placemats – I got these paper lace doilies to jazz it up

Consumables You’ll Need:

  • Loose Leaf Tea – here is a 6 tin set or 3 tin set if you feel overwhelmed on where to begin
  • Milk or Cream – check with your guests on their dairy preferences
  • Sugar – I like to have a cup of sugar cubes or a sugar dish
  • Honey – Here is the honey jar and gold dipper I got
  • Baked Course – This is traditionally scones with jam (I like these GF blueberry scones with blueberry jam) and clotted cream but I’ve done savory spinach artichoke tartlets for late afternoon events
  • Tea Sandwiches – I’ve done the classics such as Cucumber, Curried Chicken, Sonoma Chicken, Smoked Salmon, Turkey and Cheese and if you only have time/patience to do one, the cucumber is always the biggest hit. Here is an easy recipe I’ve used before.
  • Mini Desserts – Macarons, Mini Cupcakes, Shortbread Cookies are all traditional, I like to add berries to the spread for extra color. If you aren’t super into baking, there are a lot of cute heart shaped Linzer or Shortbread cookies around Valentine’s Day
  • Cucumber slices or sliced fruit/berries for infused water

If you love this idea and want to get more ideas and recipes for hosting a tea party, I got this book and it has tons of great recipes.
